Techno is a form of Electronic Music

What Is Techno Music?

Techno is a genre of electronic music emerged in the United States in 1988.

techno music
Most often made in home studio and reinterpreted by disc jockeys during parties, the Techno is primarily dance music, in essence repeatedly. It is indeed possible to find many precursors, such as the Autobahn Kraftwerk published in 1974 or Tomorrow Never Knows The Beatles in 1966 album Revolver.

Its gestation was done in parallel with the development of house music in Chicago, but the techno inspired even more willingly of electro and new wave, as well as soul, funk and musical themes futuristic prevalent in popular culture, especially industrial America at the end of the Cold War.

During the 1990s, techno develops into a true musical culture through the reception reserve especially England and Germany to Detroit artists. The enthusiasm of many European musicians led to the emergence of multiple genres of electronic music more or less directly related to the original type.

The evolution of a techno track is mainly through the addition or removal of soundtracks, following a cycle of four (or multiples of four) measurements.

Techno is characterized by its abundance of percussion, synth sounds and effects achieved in a studio on a regular rhythm (4/4) generally ranging between 120 and 140 beats per minute. In the original Detroit techno, most compositions give emphasis to the melody and the bass line, but it is no longer essential elements of techno music, as is the case for other music dance. It is common to find techno tracks omitting entirely. Techno music is particularly suited to disc jockeying, because it is mainly instrumental and produced for incorporation in a continuous musical part with different compositions during long interspersed sequences synchronized. Although other dance music can be described in these terms, it is the techno music has a distinctive sound that makes it can be easily recognized by its fans.

Recording studio and home studio used by composers of techno music can be composed of a single computer (which is more common nowadays) or multiple keyboards, synthesizers, samplers, processors effects and mixer, all of which are interconnected. While most techno musicians use a variety of equipment and excellent to produce sounds and rhythms never heard, they seem to remain fairly often in stylistic boundaries established by contemporaries, which results in the appearance an abundance of sub-genres (see the list of electronic music genres).

There are several ways to make techno music, but it is typical to use a technique of composition derived from the electronic instrumentation, in particular sequencers. While we can say that this technique is rooted in Western musical structure (if we're talking scales, rhythmic, metric and more generally the role played by each instrument), we can say that it stands for traditional approaches to composition, such as the support of the rating system, the tonal system and creating melody or accompaniment for voice. Some of the most important techno tracks can be summarized in an ingenious use of the drum machine, interacting with different types of reverb and frequency filters, such mixed so that one does not know where the stamp the instrument ends and the different effects begin.

Instead of traditional compositional techniques, the techno musician (often also producer) uses the electronic studio as one large and very complex musical instrument orchestra of interconnected machines, each of which can produce both stamps familiar or alien. Initially, each machine was used to produce continuous and repetitive sound patterns it produces by default, depending on the capabilities and limitations of the first sequencers. Instead of reproducing the arrangements that can be achieved with interpreters, techno musician is free to implement sound combinations unreal. However, a large number of musicians are struggling to produce a realistic balance / unrealistic arrangements and stamps, facilitating dance and listening, rather than a demonstration of extremes made possible by its machines.

Once the musician worked the palette of textures, it starts the job this time concentrating not on the development of new textures but the arrangement of them. Depending on how they are connected, they can influence each other as and as the constitution of the layers of sound (eg, be syncopated and rhythmic harmony) and all this can be picked up by the musician on the mixer. It does this using the mixer and sequencer, bringing to the foreground or away from different layers of sound, playing with effects to make them more or less hypnotic or create combinations more or less propellant. The result is a deconstructive manipulation of sound, before all somehow Claude Debussy and the Futurist Luigi Russolo as Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream.

Electronic instruments allow a different approach to composition that does not rely solely on words "simple" harmony but an increase in the grain, the resonance, the filter sounds that evolve throughout the pieces.

Here is the definition of technology as Derrick May: Just like Detroit techno is a complete error. Like George Clinton and Kraftwerk found themselves trapped in an elevator ..

The term is derived from the word techno technology. Techno music has long been marginalized by proponents of mass culture, including Americans, in part because musicians and American producers were black. Similarities historical currents techno, jazz and rock'n'roll a racial point of view has often been debated by fans and musicians. In England and France, techno music has been marginalized for many years, often associated with raves and free parties, and drug abuse.

Music techno other revolutionized music by his side and anti-free trade. Jeff Mills has consistently refused to sign a major label and symbolic Detroit techno is called precisely Underground Resistance. Some DJ wanted to drop the "star system" musical playing hidden their audience. Daft Punk have long maintained that mind do not wish to appear in their videos.

Become politically correct and recovered by industry records, the term "techno" was then used improperly to refer to all electronic music dance without distinction, particularly in France and Germany. Specialized journalists and fans of the genre are generally cautious about using the term, concerned about the confusion that can be done with other styles of electronic music, very different from each other. Currently electro label to replace the mainstream media that the term techno meant for the general public, probably because of the strong impregnation of 1990 on it.
